Sr. Liane Johnson, OFH says, "In 1996 I joined a Catholic Worker house Dorothy's Place in Salinas,CA.I am Catholic and it was a very spiritual experience serving the homeless of Monterey County. After my return I joined the 3rd Order Franciscans, I read many Franciscan Formation books. Got to know Franciscan spirituality well. I also worked at Casa De Clara in San Jose California, I am single living in Garland Texas. I watch Mass every day on EWTN."
Br. Michael Potvin-Frost, OFH says, "I was baptized, confirmed, and raised in the Roman Catholic Church. I spent several years in seminary for the RC Church and was a postulant with the Capuchins. I left the seminary to pursue married life. At that time I also discovered the independent Catholic movement and was ordained a priest and then a bishop in an independent Catholic communion. After 23 years I decided to put aside ordained ministry and joined the local ELCA (Lutheran) congregation. After 2 years there I felt God calling me to return to the Roman Catholic Church. I feel like I've come home. I have been interested in the Franciscan charism from my early days in college and I enjoy time spent with God in nature and in centering prayer. I am seeking to deepen my prayer life so as to see more clearly the face of God in others. Pax et Bonum!"
Br. John Mary, OFH says, "I'm a Roman Catholic Canadian living in Japan. In 2010 I had a conversion experience where I realized I needed to turn my life towards God. I have always carried Francis' saint medal with the Prayer of St. Francis, which is a very beautiful prayer, so I have spent the last 6 years trying to learn more about Francis and Clare and their way of turning towards God. Being isolated from any Franciscans where I am living in Japan it is nice to have found the Order of Franciscan Hermits. The picture, incidentally, is of me and my neighbours dog Jack."
Sr. Susan Bashynski, OFH says, "I am a 3rd order OFS professed on October 3, 2015. I am currently a Religious Studies major at Cardinal Stritch University in Milwaukee, Wi anticipating graduation in December, 2016.
I had my first encounter with Jesus who appeared to me on July 9, 2012. I was immediately drawn to a life of contemplation, and was called to gather others and begin rebuilding the Franciscan fraternity at my parish. I followed this call and the fraternity began re-emerging on 10/3/15. I am humbled to be the minister. I am searching to find answers to questions that I have and am very much looking forward to hopefully finding others who are mystic contemplatives and may share many of the same questions."
