As Franciscan Hermits,
We Work and Pray to “Rebuild the Church” and Promote World Peace. We Cherish Substantial Silence, Substantial Solitude, Prayer and Penance. We Focus on what UNITES us as Franciscans, Christians & God's Children, Rather than what Divides Us. The Order of Franciscan Hermits (OFH) is as an International Contemplative and Active Franciscan Community Promoting World Peace and LOVE through the Teachings of Christ and the Spirituality of Sts. Francis and Clare of Assisi. We live a life of substantial silence, substantial solitude, contemplative prayer and penance - choosing to "Rejoice always; pray without ceasing; in everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for us in Christ Jesus." (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18).
Our Members strive to live the Gospel Life and it's OFH Mission following the Rule of the Franciscan Third Order Regular. The Lord has blessed our Community with Associates and Members who live in over 90 countries worldwide. The OFH is a federally recognized 501(c)(3) Nonprofit Religious Charitable Organization (designation letter), that was originally founded in 2015 by Br. Paul, OFH, upon the inspiration of his Novice Master, Fr. Enda Heffernan, OFM Cap. to “Gather the Brothers so we may be One.” We choose to focus on what UNITES us as Franciscans, Christians and God’s Children, rather than what Divides us, as St. Paul "begs" of us in Ephesians 4:1-6: "therefore, the prisoner in the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all Humility and Gentleness, with Patience, bearing with one another in LOVE, making every effort to maintain the Unity of the Spirit in the bond of Peace. There is One Body and One Spirit, just as you were called to the One Hope of your calling, One Lord, One Faith, One Baptism, One God and Father of All, who is above All and through All and in All." Our primary Ministry is Contemplative Prayer, but St. Francis was always torn between the Silence of Contemplation and Active Ministry. As Franciscans, we must put our Faith into Action, always remembering when Jesus said, "When you did these things to the Least of my Brothers, you did them to ME." We are NOT Franciscans for our own sake, but for others. We have Ministries in the Franciscan tradition of helping the poor and marginalized for the betterment of humanity. Domestic and International efforts support Ecumenical and Interfaith communications; peace and social justice; clean water and food security; environmental sustainability; health and human services; education; spiritual development and associated support groups. We support & promote programs aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Outreach to the Homeless - As part of our Benevolence Program, your donations help provide for the immediate needs of the homeless such as food, clothing, warmth (jackets, sleeping bags, blankets, socks, gloves) etc. This has always been a critical ministry as Franciscans. Money is NEVER given directly to individuals, but we are able to accept Gift Cards to common restaurants such as Subway, Jack in the Box, Taco Bell, etc. as well as Visa Cards to purchase needed items for those we Serve. Gift Cards can be donated via our OFH Homeless Outreach Program Amazon Wish List, or by making an online donation today.
THANK YOU for Your Support of our Mission of PEACE - You Are Remembered in Our Daily Prayers. TopicsAcceptance
