After a year or more of trying to find help from legal clinics, lawyers, non profit orgs., and others, we have decided to accept our fate that we can no longer stay in our home of 14+ years (that our father helped purchase for us years ago). So we are being forced to leave soon, when? We can't be sure, only that once the house has been purchased we have 45 days to vacate or we will be forced out by eviction.... We have been actively looking for a new house to rent but because we are poor, with one income as well as have several animal companions/ pets, our chances of finding a new home has been slim, because it is rather expensive where we live (in SoCal) and few places allow pets. Today's feast, once again, is one of my favorites, the feast of Our Lady of Sorrows. In fact, truthfully, this is one of my favorite liturgical weeks, with three favorite feasts in one week, the third being the Stigmata of our spiritual father, St. Francis. I love this week because it reminds us to embrace the Cross and its sufferings. I have had a difficult life, culminating in my present illnesses and disabilities, along with the excruciating pain these entail on a constant level. I learned to embrace this because it unites me to our crucified Lord. I will not recover; eventually, I will die. I do not pray for a miracle, because I believe this is God's Holy Will for my life. When I was discerning my vocation as a consecrated church hermit, I can remember God speaking to my heart, asking me, what if your only vocation is to suffer for Me. Do you love Me enough to do that? I answered my fiat, even though I didn't realize, at the time, what that would entail. However, even now, I would not answer differently if I had to answer again, which is why I professed that as my fourth vow, with my bishop's permission, that of union with our Crucified Lord in His Passion and Cross. And so, I say once again, Fiat. My only regret is that I do not always do this well, particularly those nights when I awaken, screaming and crying in pain.
